Cicada Books & Coffee, a family-owned, independent bookstore, opened in Huntington’s Central City Antiques District in July 2018. You can find our bright blue building (we like to stand out) right by the gazebo. We strive to be a welcoming and comfortable community space for all with an inviting atmosphere, friendly staff, interesting events and a civic-minded attitude. Along with our books and coffee, be sure to browse our collection of plants, rocks, fossils and other unique items. We are also a big supporter of the local arts scene and have many artists that consign their work to display in our store.

Why Cicada?
Owners Dawn Hylbert and Katie Norman landed on the name “Cicada” because the insect’s association with rebirth and fresh starts. Opening this business had been a family dream for a long time and choosing to locate along 14th St. W coincided with the mission to help bring new energy and draw residents and visitors to a beautifully historic area of town.
[You should also ask about their “family memory” of Dawn making chocolate-covered cicadas.]
